Fetal Risk Summary
Cefatrizine is a cephalosporin antibiotic. No controlled studies on its use in pregnancy have been located. Transplacental passage of cefatrizine has been demonstrated in women undergoing elective therapeutic surgical abortion in the 1st and 2nd trimesters (1). None of the fetuses from prostaglandin F2a-induced abortions revealed evidence of cefatrizine.
Breast Feeding Summary
Most cephalosporins are excreted into breast milk in low concentrations, but data for cefatrizine are lacking. For potential problems during breast feeding, see Cephalothin.
