nurses/doctor please answer:is a 2mg dose of xanax a dangerous amount for a person no used to benzodiazepines?

is it a dangerous dose or not for a person no tolerant to benzodiazepines?

i mean it not like a non opiate tolerant person taking 80mg of oxycontin and then overdosing right?

BTW the xanax i have a prescription for and would NEVER abuse a drug with such a dangerous withdrawal. im just wondering it it would be okay to take a 2mg dose since i rarealy take it.

I don’t know but you can call your pharmacy and they can tell you.

2mg tablet of xanax high?

I have a prescription of 2mg tablet xanax. Ive heard that even .5mg can get u messed up…ive taken well over 3 2mg tabs at one time and barely feel anything…whats up?

If you got them from an online pharmacy you got took because 6mg of Xanax is a lot of Xanax! The reason I assume it’s an online pharmacy is because that is the only place that I’ve seen Xanax in 2mg tablets.
I’ve been on and off Xanax since I was 18. I have never heard of any kind of doctor prescribing 2mg of Xanax no matter how messed up you are. Really though, if you took that much Xanax and nothing happened, it can’t be the real thing.

Sorry, try going online for more info, it’s all there.

I just looked at your additional details and I can tell you that Xanax does not have an X on them. I know the 1mg is purple and the .5 is a peach color, that’s the one I take. But I’ve never seen a 2mg so I can’t tell you what color they are.

Can long term 2mg daily Xanax cause constant constant constipation?

Can long term 2mg daily Xanax cause constant constant constipation? This is a daily occurance & am serious. Please no silly puns. I have been taking prescription Xanax for Anxiety and or plus depression, panic etc. for about 5 years. Mostly 1/2mg. 4 times daily.

Not a real abusive amount and never over 2-1/2mg in a day unless really bad day. Any help greatly appreciated as the constipation issue is quite bad and it’s all the time and quite painful. I have looked on the internet but can’t really find anything that explains what I’m looking for in full. Thanks so much in advance for any helpful response.

Go to this website. It will tell you everything you want to know. http://www.drugs.com/xanax.html
You’ll find “constipation” listed under the “Less Serious Side Effects” category.

how big are xanax bars (2mg dose)??

i just got prescribed 2mg of xanax for insomnia and i havent yet picked up my prescription.

the reason i ask is because i am not good at swallowing pills because i have a smaller throat. but how big are the 2mg bars?

They are not any bigger than a Tylenol Capsule, just shaped as a rectangle instead.

Have you tried anything else for sleep previously? The reason I ask is because I am now trying to get off of Xanax as I did not know how addictive it was when it was prescribed to me and it is very difficult and the withdrawal symptoms are horrible. There are so many medications out there now that have a lot fewer side effects and are not as addictive as Xanax, which is typically prescribed for anxiety. I am surprised you were prescribed 2mg. right away as it is usually prescibed in lower doses and then built up as tolerated over time. Some sleep medications that are popular at this time and work well are Ambien, Ambien CR and Lunesta. Just a suggestion but you may want to talk with your Dr. again before starting the Xanax and look at all your alternatives. Good luck with your insomnia~

I have a Xanax question?

I have a prescription for 2mg Xanax. The label SAYS I can take it daily. However, realistically, A.) how much can I take it without building a real dependency on it and B.) how long, on average, does it take one’s body to start to build a real resistance to the drug so I don’t have to take 1 or 2mg but 4,5,6, etc?

Benzodiazepines affect people differently. Some people can take them no problem, other have great difficulty coming off of them.

Xanax has a short half life and is intended for short term use. In the UK they will not prescribe them for more than 2 weeks.

Benzo’s act on the Gaba receptors in your brain. If you continually provide Benzos to the brain your body will compensate and stop creating the Gaba. So when you try to come off of them suddenly there is no Gaba and you suffer withdrawls. This is Physical Dependancy… not referred to as “Addiction”.

And that is the scarey part. Because some Doctors think that anyone can just taper off. And sometimes they can and sometimes they can not.

And there is no drug that can help you if you have trouble getting off. All you can do is taper and wait it out.

As far as developing tolerance, that again is subject to the individual.

Benzos are like no other. You would be well served to use them as infrequently as possible. Then find another medication if your problems are serious enough to warrant some kind of long term drug therapy.

Good luck.
