Fetal Risk Summary

Thiopropazate is a piperazine phenothiazine in the same group as prochlorperazine (see Prochlorperazine). Phenothiazines readily cross the placenta (1). No specific information on the use of thiopropazate in pregnancy has been located. Although occasional reports have attempted to link various phenothiazine compounds with congenital malformations, the bulk of the evidence indicates that these drugs are safe for the mother and fetus (see also Chlorpromazine).
