How many grams of sodium iodide are rquired to produce 28.2 grams of Iodide?, Given the balanced chemical equation:
Br2+2NaI-----> 2NaBr+I2
How many grams of sodium iodide are rquired to produce 28.2 grams of Iodide
I can work these type of problems normally but I seem to have blanked out today please help. Explantions on how you did it would be welcome as well.
28.5gNaI x I2/2(23+53)gNaI= 0.19gI2
I am a 10th grade student
I think that is the right answer.
i have been working similar question like u have,so good luck.
Putting sodium iodide in a toilet and hydrogen peroxide in the tank?I?, I want to do this to some of the school toilets on the last day of school (students leaving always play pranks on the last day). I've heard hydrogen peroxide can be quite dangerous, would it still be if mixed with sodium iodide? and also where could i get hold of some of these chemicals, and can anyone tell me about how much of each i would need?
I think you should pay more attention in school, particularly chemistry class, and stop thinking of ways to cause problems.
for instance hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) isn't particularly dagerious in fact you can buy it at any pharmacy without any restrictions.
why is potassium iodide used in iodometric titrations instead of sodium iodide?, and if there isn't a real difference, can you still use sodium iodide, or won't it work?
Potassium iodide is available in a purer form than sodium iodide. NaI will work, but you'll get more accurate results if you use KI.
According to the following reaction, how many grams of sodium iodide form 0.812 moles sodium chloride?, chlorine (g) + sodium iodide (s) -> sodium chloride (s) + iodine (s)
how many grams sodium iodide ?
There was 0.812 moles of sodium iodide before the reaction.
The molar mass of sodium iodide = 149.9 g/mol , sodium = 23.00 iodine = 126.90
0.812 x 149.9 = 121.7188
= 121.7 g (4 significant figures)
What mass of sodium chloride is produced when chlorine reacts with 0.29 g of sodium iodide?, I need help with the chemistry study guide, I have a test tomorrow so I'm just trying to check my answers.
2NaI + Cl2 ==> 2NaCl + I2
0.29g NaI x (1 mol NaI / 149.9g NaI) = 0.00194 mol NaI
0.00194 mol MaI x (2 mol NaCl / 2 mol NaCl) = 0.00149 mol NaCl
0.00149 mol NaCl x (58.5g NaCl / 1 mol NaCl) = 0.113g NaCl
What does the reaction between sodium carbonate and potassium iodide form?, Sodium carbonate + Potassium Iodide -> ?
Could you please tell me what could be seen when the react.
Na2CO3 + 2 KI --> K2CO3 + Na+ + I-
if this reaction took place in alcohol, the K2CO3 would be visible as a white precipitant.
Help! Does allyl bromide react well in a solution of sodium iodide in anhydrous acetone?, I know that this if these do react, that it's an SN2 reaction. Also wondering what is unusual about an allyl in this reaction. Thank you!
The reaction is much faster then that for bromopropane due to stabilization of the positive character of the carbon in the transition state by pi electron donation from the double bond.
When performing a Sodium Iodide in Acetone test, why is it SO important that the test tube is so dry?,
the idea of the experiment is that you react KI with an organic bromide or chloride and halogen exchanges
so instead of KI , KCl or KBr forms in the solution. They are not soluble in acetone unlike KI, and so they precipitate.
However as you may guess they are soluble in water, so if your test tube is not dry, you may have a false negative result even if KCl or KBr does form!
