Questions and Answers
Is Phenyltoloxamine soluble in water?, Will Phenyltoloxamine dissolve completely in water?
Interesting question.
Phenyltoloxamine.
It's good to break down the name into its individual components.
Phenyl-tolox-amine
Phenyl, aka benzene, is a hydrocarbon ring structure. Those are not soluble in water.
Amine is a group containing a N-H bond. Since N is more electronegative than H, it creates a dipole moment. However, that results more so in H bonding than in ionization since N doesn't really come in ionic form.
So the answer is no, there is some solubility in water but generally it does not. However when combined with other compounds (e.g. phenyltoloxamine citrate) it has soluble properties, but that is not resulting from phenyltoloxamine itself.

Anyother thing to look at is its uses. Phenytoloxamine is used as a seditive, which means it affects the brain.
The brain is protected from outside chemicals via a barrier that only fat-soluble molecules can cross. Therefore for the molecule to be able to affect the brain, it has to be fat soluble, and to be fat soluble, means it's not going to be able to dissolve completely in water.
