No reports linking the use of metharbital with congenital defects have been located. Metharbital is demethylated to barbital by the liver (see also Phenobarbital).

Breast Feeding Summary

Metharbital’s metabolite, barbital, has been demonstrated in breast milk in trace amounts (1). No reports linking the use of metharbital with adverse effects in the nursing infant have been located.
