Propecia libido?

Questions and Answers

Propecia side effects? Is anybody taking Propecia and if so, do you experience lower libido than before?

I'm on my 6th month now and the hair growth is noticeably improved but my libido isn't the same prior to taking the daily pill. I'm cutting back to 0.5mg right now from reading some online article, but I'm wondering if anybody has the same experience or side effect.

I've been using Propecia for one week and am scared that I'm going to lose my libido...?

I heard that one side effect of taking Propecia for male pattern baldness could be impotence or loss of sexual desire and I didn't think anything of it... I started taking the drug and within one week noticed a drop in my sex drive and a few other changes down below (in size) but ignored it. Anyway, 2 weeks later and i'm still kind of un-interested and had to force myself the other day as I was so worried. Is this all in my head? Is there anybody else out there who has taken Propecia and experienced loss of libido/impotence/lack of sexual desire? I've done loads of reading on the net and it seems that this is a BIG problem for lots of men, and some of them the side effects have been irreversable. I'd rather stop taking these now if thats the case. Any advice Much appreciated

Do most people get side effects from Propecia?

The studies on the Propecia website say only two percent get them, however from what I read online, it seems like every one who takes it does. I'm just trying to figure out if this is because only the people who can't get hard or lose their libido are complaining, or if this is actually a common side effect.

Do not take Propecia. I am warning you ahead of time. I'm 23 and and am experiencing irreversible side effects of much lowered libido, erectile dysfunction and impotence after only taking it for 3 months. I've been off it for 2 months with very little recovery, if it all. That does not include all of the mental effects either such as being in a "drunken state", slurred speech, forgetfulness and "brain fog". I posted my story on propeciahelp.com along with many others who are experiencing these irreversible side effects. This is not information that the pharmaceuticals or doctors are talking about. This is your quality of life we are talking about. Mine has been greatly diminished because I chose to take an expensive pill to keep my hairline.

Does Propecia (Finasteride) lead to a lowered Testosterone level?

I am thinking of taking Propecia (Finasteride), but i have read that it works by blocking the creation of DHT, and that also it should not be handled by pregnant women as it could affect the development of the sex organs of the male foetus.
Does using this drug lower testosterone levels across the whole body, or does it act specifically in the scalp area? I know they list potential lowered libido as a side effect, but couldnt there be much more wide ranging effects if it lead to a body-wide lowering of testosterone levels?

The 1mg dose is for male pattern baldness. It is not available on NHS.
The 5mg tab (Proscar) is for prostate cancer.
The low dose should nothave detremental effect on sex life, so go for it Baldy!!!
