Arethere any problems with taking CoQ10 while also taking lipitor, Trandate, and Monopril?
yes...they all make u die...eventually!
If I am taking 10mg Lipitor daily, should I supplement with CoQ10?
Doctors and pharmacists typically say they've never heard of this recommendation. I don't think the maker of Lipitor includes this recommendation currently. Reportedly, they did recommend it after their initial research and found that Lipitor lowers CoQ10 levels, which is necessary for muscle (heart is a muscle) functioning. Read "The Cholesterol Myths".
Lopid or CoQ10? Has anyone in here switched from lipitor to CoQ10? I need to know if you did this as opposed to taking a different cholesterol medicine.
CoQ10 is not a cholesterol medicine - it is a coenzyme used in metabolism. I wouldn't mess with prescription meds (Lipitor) without a dr.'s ok.
If you take statins for cholesterol, do you also take CoQ10 enzyme? I'm told if you want to risk all the side effects of statins(Lipitor, Zocor, Crestor etc.), you should replace the enzymes they destroy. What has your doctor told you?
My dad's doctor asked him what he's doing! My dad stopped taking statins about a year ago, and his cholesterol dropped back into acceptable range. Two words - fish oil. No side effects of statins (my dad was having horrible leg, shoulder, muscle pain, etc.). He gets the fish oil capsules from Vitamin World. Then his (general practice) doctor started taking the fish oil and his cholesterol went down too (better than with statins). BTW, CoQ10 enzyme is a good supplement to take regardless of whether you take statins or not.
