Q&A about Isosorbide Mononitrate
The cardiologist said every thing looked normal on the different tests so why this medication plus have nitro pills on hand
Isosorbide mononitrate also increases supply of oxygen to the heart by dilating the arteries which supply the heart itself. Isosorbide mononitrate is in the class of drugs called anti-anginal medications.
I understand that whilst taking Beta blockers, one cannot ingest grapefruit/grapefruit juice, as the combination could lead to a serious interraction. But is it ok to take grapefruit whilst on Imdur? its a similar drug to Isosorbide mononitrate but does not have such a significant effect of hypotension (low blood pressure)
There are no restrictions for taking with Imdur. If in doubt check with the pharmacist.
isosorbide mononitrate was prescribed to me for twice daily after i had a stent placed in me. side effects are headache, nausea, dizziness. i have not had chest pains after the procedure. i want to stop taking, but am advised by nurse, symptoms will subside. has anyone been through this and have they stopped taking this medicine on their own? is it really necessary after a procedure? i was told i still have other areas with blockage, and would be treated with medication. any help would be appreciated. i meet with my heart specialist in 6 days.
