Name: CYCLOBENZAPRINE
Class: Skeletal Muscle Relaxant
Risk Factor: BM
Fetal Risk Summary
Cyclobenzaprine is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant that is closely related to the tricyclic antidepressants (e.g., imipramine). The agent is not teratogenic or embryotoxic in mice, rats, and rabbits given doses up to 20 times the human dose (1). No published reports of its use in human pregnancy have been located.
In a surveillance study of Michigan Medicaid recipients involving 229,101 completed pregnancies conducted between 1985 and 1992, 545 newborns had been exposed to cyclobenzaprine during the 1st trimester (F. Rosa, personal communication, FDA, 1993). A total of 24 (4.4%) major birth defects were observed (23 expected), including (observed/expected) 5/5 cardiovascular defects, 1/1 oral clefts, and 2/2 polydactyly. No anomalies were observed in three other categories of defects (spina bifida, limb reduction defects, and hypospadias) for which data were available. Earlier data, obtained from the same source between 1980 and 1983, totaled 168 1st trimester exposures with 12 defects observed (10 expected). These combined data do not support an association between the drug and congenital defects.
Breast Feeding Summary
No reports are available on the excretion of cyclobenzaprine into milk. The molecular weight (about 312 for the hydrochloride salt), however, is low enough that excretion into milk should be expected. In addition, the closely related tricyclic antidepressants (e.g., see Imipramine) are excreted into milk and this should be considered before cyclobenzaprine is used during lactation.

Q&A about Cyclobenzaprine
Cyclobenzaprine. What is Cyclobenzaprine used to treat? Is Cyclobenzaprine the same as Flexeril? Which is better? Is Cyclobenzaprine a muscle relaxant. Can I buy Cyclobenzaprine online? My muscle spasms are getting out of control, can Cyclobenzaprine be used to treat pain, tenderness, and limited motion caused by my muscle spasms? thanks
.Cyclobenzaprine is commonly prescribed to treat muscle spasms. Cyclobenzaprine is a Muscle relaxant. Cyclobenzaprine is also the Generic Version of Flexeril. Clobenzaprine is a muscle relaxant. Specifically, cyclobenzaprine relieves muscle spasm when the spasm is due to local problems (that is, problems originating in the muscle itself and not in the nerves controlling the muscles). Cyclobenzaprine has no effect on muscle function. Cyclobenzaprine seems to accomplish its beneficial effect through a complex mechanism within the nervous system, probably in the brainstem. You can buy Cyclobenzaprine online without a prior prescription at RxDeliveredFAST. COM. Without the hassle's of a doctors office visit, then waiting for it to fill at the pharmacy etc.. A US licensed Pharmacist writes the Prescription, Fills it, then sends it Fedex overnight From a US Licensed Pharmacy. Not from mexico or canada. I hope that answers your question.
I have a bottle of Cyclobenzaprine that expired about a year ago? I pulled a muscle in my back and could really use one of these right about now, as I am in a tremendous amount of pain. But I don't know if it is safe to take one of these, being that they supposedly expired that long ago. Any info is appreciated. Thanks!
I have been prescribed cyclobenzaprine, meclizine and hydrocodone and within one day my weight increased 8lb even my diet didn’t change and I am not eating lots of crabs. So does that sudden gain of that weight related to those medication I am taking??
I have been getting a heavy tingling sensation in my hands and feet. Food is tasting funny, my lips are feeling kind of numb. My memory is not as sharp as it was and my instant recall seems to have slowed way down. The doctor took me off of the cyclobenzaprine when I told him all of this but he thinks I am the one person in 1000 that has these problems with these drugs. Yet the headaches persist. They don't disable me, just annoy me. I think they headaches progress from neck pain to tension headaches to migraine headaches.
Thankfully, there are no interactions between Topamax and Cyclobenzaprine. I've been on both and haven't had a problem with the Cyclo (aka Flexeril). I do sometimes have a feeling as if I'm "racing" while on the Cyclo, but it's not too bothersome most of the time.
The Topamax, however, DOES "cause" memory loss. My memory has been horrible ever since I started taking the Topamax again, though I assure you, once you stop taking the medication, your memory goes back to normal. If it becomes too bothersome for you, maybe ask your doctor for another medication. A medication that's helping with the main problem doesn't do any good if it's causing you too much distress with it's side effects.
Here are links for the list of side effects for both drugs:

Cyclobenzaprine: http://www.drugs.com/Cyclobenzaprine/ind...
For future reference, you can look up medication interactions here: http://www.drugdigest.org/DD/Interaction...
I hope I've helped! I know it can be scary when you start experience certain side effects of drugs...especially when memory loss is involved! Feel better!
Also is it safe to take a vicodin with this pill?
Vicodin is a pain killer, and again, it depends on how you react to medications as for how you will react to it. You can take the two in conjunction with one another as they react in different manners. Used in conjunction, Flexeril and Vicodin can be an effective way to get pain under control.
i been taking doxycycline and eill be done n 2 days. i just started clobenzaprine today which is a muscle reliever. Is it okay to take both of them???
Hope that helps!
is it painful and does it hurt?
and what would be considered overdose(death)
is it like vicodine or some other pain killer?
Cyclobenzaprine, a sedative and skeletal muscle relaxant used to treat pain from muscle spasm. It is marketed under the name Flexeril. It is a safe and non-habit forming product that has been widely available for over twenty years without problems of addiction or other serious side effects apart from drowsiness, and rarely, allergy.
Although it can relieve the pain of muscle spasm, it is not considered a pain killer (analgesic) like the drug that you mention, Vicodin, because it doesn't relieve any other kind of pain, and it only relieves muscle pain because it relieves muscle spasm. Thus, it is an antispasmodic.
Nor is cyclobenzaprine a controlled or scheduled (listed by the Drug Enforcement Agency as a habit-forming drug). It can be sedating, however - more so if mixed with alcohol or other sedatives.
