No reports linking the use of hydromorphone with congenital defects have been located. Withdrawal could occur in infants exposed in utero to prolonged maternal ingestion of hydromorphone. Use of the drug in pregnancy is primarily confined to labor. Respiratory depression in the neonate similar to that produced by meperidine or morphine should be expected (1).

He might just be really high for a while. It is wasteful to snort them, it probably burned like hell, but he should be fine. I swear, what you kids won't do to get high these days LOL No offense, just sometimes ya'll make me laugh. Be safe!

Not worth much of anything on the street, $3 is the highest you'd get and unlikely.
If you're thinking about selling them (which you are) then you like the feeling. So just do what you really intend to do and take the leftover.
Im on probation and can they tell a difference if i have taken hydromorphone or vicodin?, i have gotten drug tested before in the past and i believe they have the five panel dip stick that the put into your urine. can they tell a difference if i have take hydrocodone or hydromorphone (dilaudid) or will i just test positive for opiates in general?
No they will not be able to tell the difference with a stick test. Both drugs are opioid. Also, part of a hydrocodone dose that is taken will metabolize into hydromorphone once it is in the liver. If you will just search the net, or pick up a pdr, you will also see that alot of drugs-narcotic or not-once they reach your liver to be metabolized(broken down) often turn out to break down into a different, but related drug. Now really, why would you even risk breaking your probation?
How would I go about getting a prescription for hydromorphone?, What kind of pain do I need to tell the Dr I have?
You want dilaudid? I don't think many Dr's are prescribing these days. If you are 80 and in a nursing home you probably could get easily but maybe try an older doctor. Why not go for percocet ? Everybody takes those nowadays-go for back pain hard to prove
Is it safe to take hydromorphone and naproxen together?, Doc prescribed them both, but on separate occasions. I have a migraine. Thanks.
There's no adverse interaction when the 2 drugs are combined, based on drugs.com. Just make sure you take the drug as needed and follow the prescription/ instruction properly.
Is it ok to break a 4mg pill of Hydromorphone in half?, I know some pills are slow release so youre not supposed to, so I wanted to be sure. It also has the usual "do not drink alcohol" sticker on it..what will drinking do? will it increase its effects or make you tired or is it more serious than that?
You should be able to cut a 4mg pill of Hydromorphone Hydrochloride (Dilaudid) in half, thus creating two 2mg pills. Hydromorphone is not an extended-release pill so you're not taking a risk of sudden overdose by cutting it.
I do recommend using a pill-cutter. I once used a kitchen knife and crushed half of it, shooting the other half to God knows where (it wasn't Hydromorphone though).
As far as drinking while taking Hydromorphone...JUST DON'T DO IT. You're taking a VERY STRONG narcotic pain medication. Anything higher then what you're taking would be opium itself (otherwise known as pure heroin). Alcohol is a depressant. Dilaudid is a depressant. Alcohol causes respiratory depression in itself. Adding alcohol only slows your respiratory system even more. I highly doubt you want to stop breathing.
Alcohol will increase the effects as well, by altering the absorbancy of the medication through your liver. Again, a real good reason to avoid drinking and popping pills. Cool?

Offsetting the effects of hydromorphone?, I know someone who is currently being administered hydromorphone as part of their cancer treatment. I have looked up the side effects of the drug and found she is experiencing most of the usual ones; in particular, constipation. As she has bowel cancer, constipation is a side effect she can do without. Can anyone suggest what she can do to offset the effects of this drug. Naturally I would discuss any suggestions with the nurses monitoring her health.
A daily supplement of stool softeners or something like Miralax
Is there a way to get hydromorphone out of my system?, Before answering, don't ask me why I took it. And YES, it is prescribed to me.
I took 4 mg, way more than what I needed. So I keep getting sick and I just want it out. Will it eventually get out of my system since I keep getting sick or is it already dissolved and its too late? Do I have to just wait it out?
If you are still feeling sick, it's time for you to go to an ER for treatment.
The treatment is not pleasant.
You will most likely have to drink 50 grams of activated charcoal (yes, it's as bad as it sounds). This will bind to any of the drug still in your system (stomach or intestines) and pass it through (you will be spending some time with your rear end over the toilet). You have to drink it.
If charcoal is not given, you will probably get Narcan instead. Narcan is an antidote to opiate-based medications. You will come crashing down. You won't feel very well for a while. Narcan is given by IV.
Hydromorphone can cause respiratory derpession so you will have to be monitored for at least several hours.

Yes.
Hydromorphone is related to the Morphine family as is codeine and hydrocodone. Think of it this way,
Hydromorphone is to Morphine, just as
Hydrocodone is to Codeine
There are also subtle differences between each opioid drug. For example, Hydromorphone will cause much less constipation and histamine reactions as compared to Morphine & even Codeine. Also, one of the posters above me is correct (Dymond I think?) in that Hydromorphone is much more potent that even Morphine.
