Fetal Risk Summary
Glycopyrrolate is an anticholinergic agent. In pregnant sheep, the transfer of glycopyrrolate (0.025 mg/kg) across the placenta was significantly less than that of atropine (0.05 mg/kg) (1). No change in maternal or fetal arterial pressure, fetal heart rate, or beat-to-beat variability was observed. In pregnant dogs, the placental passage of glycopyrrolate was again significantly less than that of atropine (2).
In a large prospective study, 2,323 patients were exposed to this class of drugs during the 1st trimester, only 4 of whom took glycopyrrolate (3). A possible association was found between the total group and minor malformations. Glycopyrrolate has been used before cesarean section to decrease gastric secretions (4,5,6 and 7). Maternal heart rate, but not blood pressure, was increased. Uterine activity increased as expected for normal labor. Fetal heart rate and variability were not changed significantly, confirming the limited placental transfer of this quaternary ammonium compound. No effects in the newborns were observed.
Glycopyrrolate has been recommended as the anticholinergic of choice during anesthesia for electroconvulsive therapy in pregnant patients (8).

Anybody ever taken Glycopyrrolate (Robinul=Brand Name) for stomach bloating, reflux, etc?, Did you have any side effects?
No, but when I have those symptoms I use Rolaids acid & gas relief. If you have acid reflux, my husband takes Prilosec OTC (once a day) and he's fine the whole day. Good Luck!
Challenge against Advantages of Glycopyrrolate over Atropine, I'd encounter a few questions against the advantages of Glycopyrrolate(G) over Atropine(A) from an anesthetist
G had a longer duration of action compared to A (6hour:1.5hour)
1)If the process of surgery end in a short period, does the patient have to suffer from the side effect longer if using G?
During the reversal of neuromuscular blockade, A or G is often used together with neostigmine (N), G N has a similar onset of action where A N did not, A has a faster onset of action than N
2)The anesthetist claim that the onset of action using A N was similar.
G cause less Tachycardia than A
3)Doctor sometime require more tachycardia(side effect), especially for children patient.
1) No
2) Yes
3) Yes
Does Glycopyrrolate make sweating stop immediately?,
unknown -drink more water and see your doctor to rule out a medical cause.
Are there other online pharmacies that sell Avert/Robinul (glycopyrrolate), used for hyperhidrosis?, other than pharmacy.ca? I have been searching with no luck.
