Q&A about Gentian Violet
where in the UK can i buy Gentian violet?
I used it a few weeks ago, for seven days, combined with GSE, and saw some improvement, but for the past couple of days, I've been feeling a lot of pain again. Should I start using the GSE, and gentian violet again?
It is VERY important to use it at least 2 weeks after the symptoms disappear. That's why your symptoms are back. That is true of ANY yeast treatment.
It also helps to take GSE internally.

I have seen 2 lactation consultants and a doctor. No one is sure if I have yeast in my nipples and no sign the baby has it in mouth either. They gave me an ointment but i didn't see much improvement after 3 days so they told me to try gentian violet. Has anyone tried it for nipple pain???? If so, how do you get the stuff off of the baby's skin???
However grapefruit seed extract is a natural yeast killer that has virtually no side effects. It also kills many harmful bacteria and viruses. It can be purchased at most health food, nutrition, and herb shops. http://www.drjaygordon.com/development/b...
I would certainly give the GSE a try, particularly if you are prone to vaginal yeast infections or have taken antibiotics.
Probiotics are also good for thrush and can be taken forever and have no side effects.
As for the nipple pain.... that's hard to say. Even if you have a "textbook perfect" latch it may not work for you and your baby. I have seen too many women told "its perfect" when really the latch is the problem. I would also make sure baby doesn't have a tongue tie.
my baby is on antibiotics which caused her to break out with thrush and so i am going to try gentian violet but does it work?
Thrush typically clears on its own and does not need to be treated. But if it persist for more than one to two weeks than measure can be taken. Such as wiping out the child's mouth with a warm cloth, cleaning any pacifiers, nipples etc. (even your own if you are breastfeeding), also increasing the intake of yogurt can help resort the active agents that kill bacteria in the mouth.
Here are a couple of web sites that have very good information based on your question:
I have "hardwood" laminent flooring. I tried straight bleach and that did not work. Will it eventually come out or is there anything else that will get it off? Please help!!! I rent and I am worried this will cost me my deposit plus some to cover the damage. All your help is greatly appreciated-
Purple dye ( what i call it ) is good but i thought they took it off the shelves years ago.
It may take several attempts for it to lift.
Keep trying.
I've heard it can be applied to a tampon and used for yeast infections, but it says for external use only.. hmm.. any comments?
Be careful with that stuff by the way, it has been linked to cancer : http://toxsci.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/con...
My youngest daughter got it on some of her clothes and I'd like to try to get rid of the stains but I don't know how. I've been told it's not possible. Is that true?
I resorted to dying some or the most stained things purple. It worked!
This would be once in a long time I've used gentian violet.
I am 17 years old
Before you use it though perhaps describe your syptoms to a pharmicist so they can make sure you actually have a yeast infection. If you use a treatment for something you don't have it can upset the natural balance in your vagina.
Also i know it sounds gross but if you can't get to a chemist and are in discomfort apply some natural yoghurt. Its messy and sounds gross but gives you some relief until you can get some proper treatment.
