Fetal Risk Summary
Flunitrazepam is a benzodiazepine (see also Diazepam). No reports linking the use of flunitrazepam with congenital defects have been located, but other drugs in this group have been suspected of causing fetal malformations (see also Diazepam or Chlordiazepoxide). In contrast to other benzodiazepines, flunitrazepam crosses the placenta slowly (1,2). About 12 hours after a 1-mg oral dose, cord:maternal blood ratios in early and late pregnancy were about 0.5 and 0.22, respectively. Amniotic fluid:maternal serum ratios were in the 0.020.07 range in both cases. Accumulation in the fetus may occur after repeated doses (1).
Breast Feeding Summary
Flunitrazepam is excreted into breast milk. Following a single 2-mg oral dose in five patients, mean milk:plasma ratios at 11, 15, 27, and 39 hours were 0.61, 0.68, 0.9, and 0.75, respectively (1,2). The effects of these levels on the nursing infant are unknown but they are probably insignificant.

AN expert Patient !
Is 30mg of flunitrazepam enough to put you out?,
Yes in most cases. In the case of someone who is hyped up on drugs, angry, or having a large body mass you might need more.
If I was slipped Flunitrazepam or a "roofey" in my drink what should I do to prevent it from affecting me? Ex., A girl was slipped a roofey and she found out before it took full affect, what should she do? If she goes to sleep is that ok if she is somewhere safe?
If this ever happens again, take the person to the hospital immediately. You can never be sure what exactly was in the drug that was slipped to her and she could be allergic to something in the pill or liquid. Even though she was brought to a safe place to sleep it off, she could have vomited in her sleep and asperated, or gotten some of the vomit in her lungs. That can cause death in and of itself, to say nothing of the fact that people have drowned on their vomit before. The drug could have also caused her to go into seizures. If the worse had happened and she had died, the people that brought her to the safe house and anyone there could have been charged in her death even though you didn't give her the drug/
Whoever did this needs to be prosecuted. They could have killed her and in the very least, they certainly wanted to rape her. And that is what it is when someone is drugged or gotten too drunk to be able to say yes or no.
You were a good friend to try to help. Now you can be an even better friend if this ever happens again. Be safe and remember if your hand is not on your drink at all times, preferably with your hand over the top, DON'T DRINK IT!
how much flunitrazepam does it take to kill?, i have a friend who abuses flunitrazepam. the amount depends on how much she can afford at the time. i often see her popping 20 1mg pills at once, and often more. she only weighs 90lbs on a 5"6 frame, and i cannot help but wonder at what amount will she be called home.
can someone tell me how much a person's tolerance for flunitrazepam without overdosing it is? furthermore, how much does it take to kill? she once told me that she slept for 5 days after one of her sessions, but she didn't remember how much she took.
I'm guessing your friend is not from the United States becuase here it is illegal, the DEA wants it to be classified as a Schedule 1 narcotic meaning it is highly addictive and has no medical use. Otherwise in the same class as LSD. It is a benzodiazepine, which means it is the same type of drug as Valium, Xanax, etc. These drugs are rarely lethal alone except in extreme cases. When you have to worry is when these drugs are mixed with other "downers", ie alcohol. Mixing will cause respiratory depression and vomiting. One source says the toxic level in a child is .27mg/kg. It depends on the person and his/her tolerance from the drug. 20 mg is not much to worry about honestly. Be worried if this person mixes the drug with alcohol.
Also, the withdrawal symptoms from this drug can be very dangerous, up to and including death. If this person wants to get off the pills they need to be on a controlled schedule to wean off the pills to avoid complications.
what is flunitrazepam,gamma-hydroxybutyrate?,
Imagine benzodiazepine on steroids.
As a "date rape drug", probably nothing you should be fooling around with. If you're in the U.S., mere possession can land you in the clink right quick -- it's not FDA approved here, so there's no legitimate use. Most of it in the U.S. comes up illegally from Mexico (like so many things that ought not).
The trade name is Rohypnol (courtesy of Hoffmann-La Roche).
