Fetal Risk Summary

The Collaborative Perinatal Project monitored 50,282 mother-child pairs, 60 of whom had 1st trimester exposure to ethoheptazine (1, pp. 28795). For use anytime during pregnancy, 300 exposures were recorded (1, p. 434). Although the numbers were small, a possible relationship may exist between this drug and major or minor malformations. Further, a possible association with individual defects was observed (1, p. 485). The statistical significance of these associations is unknown, and independent confirmation is required.

Congenital dislocation of the hip (three cases) Umbilical hernia (three cases) Inguinal hernia (eight cases)
