Fetal Risk Summary
Cefprozil is an oral, semisynthetic cephalosporin antibiotic. Reproduction studies found no evidence in animals of impaired fertility or, in mice, rats, and rabbits, of fetal harm at doses of 8.5, 18.5, and 0.8 times, respectively, the maximum human daily dose on a mg/m2 basis (1).
No reports describing the use of cefprozil in human pregnancy have been located. Cephalosporins are usually considered safe to use during pregnancy (see other cephalosporins for published human experience).
Breast Feeding Summary
Low concentrations of cefprozil are excreted in human milk. In a study published in 1992, nine healthy, lactating women were given a single 1000-mg oral dose of cefprozil consisting of cis and trans isomers in an approximately 90:10 ratio (2). The mean peak plasma concentrations of the cis and trans isomers were 14.8 g/mL and 1.9 g/mL, respectively. For the cis isomer, the mean milk concentration over a 24-hour period ranged from 0.25 to 3.36 g/mL, whereas the average maximum concentration in milk of the trans isomer was 0.26
Three potential problems exist for the nursing infant exposed to cefprozil in milk: modification of bowel flora, direct effects on the infant, and interference with the interpretation of culture results if a fever workup is required. The American Academy of Pediatrics considers cefprozil to be compatible with breast feeding (3).

what is the next step for a clogged ear that has not responded to cefprozil,zithromax,&prednisone ?, I went to the ent & he put me on the prednisone but my ear is still clogged for over a month now help its driving me crazy
Try warming up some olive oil and gently pouring into your ear - this should unblock the wax
Is cefprozil 250mg not effective if left out of the refrigerator?,
If you just left it out overnight, it should be ok to take. If you've left it out for the past week, it may not be as effective. If you're going on a trip with it, you'll need to carry it in a small insulated pack with an ice pack. Call the pharmacy where you got it and ask what they suggest.
I'm taking loratadine and cefprozil together- is this okay?, It's what I was prescribed for my throat (its some sort of strep he couldnt indentify :( ) but i'm generally untrusting of doctors and just wondered if this is going to make me sicker or if its okay.
They are ok to take together. Generally, doctors will prescribe an antihistamine, a pain reliever, a decongestant and an antibiotic (or any combination of the 4) for throat/bronchial infections. You have been given an antihistamine and an antibiotic.

Cefzil (cefprozil) can cause dizziness, alcohol may intensify this effect. Don't skip a dose of medication just so you can have a drink. If you want to have a drink, go ahead, just don't drive because of the dizziness.

There are no restrictions on food, beverages, or activities during treatment with cefprozil unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
alcohol and cefprozil?, i am taking cefprozil for an ear infection. tonight i am supposed to go see my sister at college and i was wondering if it would be ok if i drank a little. i love to go out dancing and usually have a few beers before i go. i hear alot of things about drinking and antibiotics.... but im not sure and wanna find out before i leave. thanks.
alcohol lowers the efficiency of antibiotics....so I would stay away from the booze until your infection clears up
Nyquil taken with Cefprozil?, Hello there. I am on antibiotics (Cefprozil) for an infection and I have a terrible cold and thoart irritation that won't allow me to sleep, could I take Nyquil? Is it ok to take Nyquil while on Cefprozil? It is the only mediciation I have. I've heard that Cefprozil mixed with Alcohol isn't very good though. Any help asap is GREATLY appreciated.
