Cefdinir is an oral, semisynthetic, third generation cephalosporin antibiotic. The molecular weight (about 395) is low enough that passage to the fetus should be expected.
Reproduction studies have been conducted in pregnant rats and rabbits (1). In pregnant rats, oral doses up to 11 times the human dose based on body surface area (HD) were not teratogenic, but decreased fetal weight occurred at doses 1.1 times the HD. No effects on maternal reproductive performance or offspring survival, behavior, development, or reproductive function. In rabbits, oral doses up to 0.23 times the HD were not teratogenic, but maternal toxicity (decreased body weight) was noted at the highest dose. No adverse effects on offspring were observed (1).
Although no published reports on the use of cefdinir during human pregnancy have been located, cephalosporin antibiotics are usually considered safe to use during gestation.
Breast Feeding Summary
No published reports describing the use of cefdinir in human lactation have been located. The molecular weight (about 395) is low enough that excretion into breast milk should be expected. However, the drug was not detected in breast milk after a single, 600-mg oral dose (1). Multiple dosing during lactation has apparently not been studied. If excretion does occur, three potential problems exist for the nursing infant: modification of bowel flora, direct effects on the infant, and interference with the interpretation of culture results if a fever workup is required. The American Academy of Pediatrics considers other cephalosporins to be compatible with breast feeding (2).

Is the medicine OMNICEF or its generic CEFDINIR a sulpha based drug?, I've searched online but all I want is a YES or NO and a link

No, it is not in the sulfa drug category, but it does contain the element Sulfur. You may be sensitive to it if you are especially allergic to sulfa drugs.
It is a 3rd generation cephalosporin drug. If you are OK taking Keflex or its generic cephalexin then I would not be concerned with Omnicef or its generic.
If you have ANY swelling in the throat or difficulty breathing you need to go to a doctor. Its may be too late for an antihistamine, its sedative effects could do more harm than good. If it is an anifalactic reaction you may need an epinephrine medication to keep your airways open.
IF it is getting better on its own then still contact an ER, and certainly don't take any more of the med. If its getting worse or staying the same don't wait for it to get better.
Most antibiotics have sulfur in them, even good old amoxicillin. Consider a macrolide antibioitic like azithromycin next time unless you have an aversion to them.
what is the dose of cefdinir 250mg oral suspension for a 10 year old child ?, it is omnicef 250mg/5ml powder that gets mixed with water

What happened? Did the Omnicef truck drop a case on the street? - Go ask your doctor or try reading the label on the bottle if you acquired this bottle legitimately via prescription.
Can omnicef (cefdinir) and phenclor tannate together reduce fever and flu.?, We have given both omnicef (cefdinir) and phenclor tannate for my 3.5 Yr old daughter for flu. But the fever is not reduced.? do we need to give thylenol to reduce the fever.?
they dont reduce fever because theyre antibiotics. you take antibiotics if you have an infection, which is manifested with fever, malaise and accurate laboratory tests like blood cultures, CRP, and CBC levels. take antipyretics like tylenol or ibuprofen for fever. better yet, just take plenty of water to promote evaporation of heat from the body. dont wear thick clothings, just light cotton ones. if the antibiotic was prescribed by your doctor, keep giving it as instructed.
my 3yr old daughter is on a med. cefdinir, she's experience some side affects anyone with this expierience?, my 3yr old girl was given a medication called cefdinir for urine infecction and upper respiratory infection and she's having this side affects like fever,loss of appetite,dark brown urine with a vaginal discharge looks like blood and fatigue anyone that can help

Any type of antibiotics can have an effect on birth control, you should maybe talk to GY.

I wouldn't. You could cause your child to dislike those drinks. Try going to the pharmacist and getting the meds "flavored" instead.
In school, we are taught to NEVER mix meds with food or drink and give them to children.

Chlamydia are not killed by cefdinir. If you still have a burning sensation, please get your urine checked up and get it cultured and tested for antibiotic sensitivity test. Whatever the cause, it can only be taken care completely and surely after these tests are over as the choice of further drugs will depend on it. Meanwhile use condoms regularly and drink plenty of water. Stinging feeling usually comes with a gonococcal infection.
cefdinir side effects?, ok so I am taking Cefdinir for a not very severe case of tonsilitis and I am taking a caplet twice a day as instructed. This morning I took a caplet and I expirienced diahrrea and a bad headache and my stomach hurts and all of this is still occuring. Is this i normal side effect or should I call a doctor?

Alcohol and cefdinir?, Im on Cefdinir and this weekend is my friends birthday and we are planning to drink, when i drink i would b on my second to last pill and i was wondering if it would b okay or extremley bad for me, personally i dont c the big problem because im almost done with them and im completly better (i just have to finish the Perscription)

There is no known interaction between Cefdinir and alcohol. You should be fine.
