Don't look at just your weight. Look in the mirror or get yourself measured, such as your waist line, chest, legs, etc. Don't forget, as you lose weight (hopefully fat), you will also gain muscle mass. If you think that you aren't losing bodyfat, than look at your calorie intake and your sodium (salt). Sodium makes you retain water. So, if you like sprinkling the salt alot... or eating foods high in salt...slow down! Of course, when you move (exercise), your body needs more fuel so sometimes you might find yourself more hungry....so make sure you are burning more calories than you are consuming.
So, for example, this week, get yourself measured...do it first thing in the morning, before you eat or exercise. A simple tape measure will do and someone who will tape you on that weekly basis.
Keep a record. Each week, see if you are losing inches. Don't measure everyday...you will drive yourself crazy! Only once a week. If you see progress, you are on the right track. If you don't, than that means you need to change something? like your diet (calorie intake or what you are putting in your mouth) or your exercise routine.
So, you won't have to do this forever, but keep a record or journal on what you are eating, supplements, medications, and also your workout routine. If you keep a proper track, you will see where you need improvement. You will see what is working for you and what is not.
I hope it helps.
Why do people complain that they cant lose weight? What do you think of fat people (it doesnt have to be bad)?, I just lost 7kg (just under a stone) of fat in under a month without losing any muscle. And because I wasnt a fat person to begin with it wouldnt have been as easy to lose as for a fat person. I did it with a proper diet and was never hungry in the time it took. And it was just not hard at all. I just wonder why people say they cant lose weight.
Actually, someone that is natural toned will find it easier to lose weight!
Genetics, metabolism and medical problems can be tough things to overcome!
I know what YOU are thinking....every fat person is just a lazy slob that eats cookies and uses the treadmill to hang their clothes on!
While there are SOME people that fall into that category, you can't/shouldn't paint EVERY overweight person with the same brush!
WHy cant I lose the weight?, I eat low carb cant lose weight, I eat a little grits I gain weight immediatley? I'm at a lost and so depressed?
Either you're eating too little or overdoing it on the calories.
why cant i lose weight?, i exercise cardio running boxing jujitsu i work out every day no matter what i do i cant seem to shed any weight i dont know what to do it almost seems like why bust your butt if it is not going to do any good i cant lose weight im just not shure why ive even tryed cleansers nothing seems to work
Read this equation -> Whatever you eat is what the body takes in as calories for burning / working etc. If your intake of food is higher than what you can burn, you probably wont lose weight. So suggestions
1 - Watch your calories
2 - Try to increase your intake of protein rather than carbohydrates
3 - Dont look into the scales every other day. You will lose weight eventually
Good Luck
Is there a way besides a thyroid problem that someone simply cant lose weight no matter what?, i know there are lots of posts about how they cant lose weight, or they have tried and tried and still cant lose anything no matter what, so is it really possible that something other than a thyroid problem could cause someone to not be able to lose any weight at all? or is it more likely that they arent being so truthful with there diet/exercise regimine and such?
1. Insufficient Exercise and Poor Eating Habits
You cannot lose weight by cutting calories alone. Adequate exercise and healthy eating habits go hand in hand when it comes to weight loss. Most Americans simply don’t get enough exercise to burn up the amount of calories that they consume on a daily basis. A steady stream of calories without a means to burn them equals weight gain, plain and simple.
A healthy individual looking to maintain his or her weight needs an average of 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise a day: A brisk walk, playing with your kids in the park, washing the car by hand. If you’re looking to lose weight, 60 minutes of cardio a day is recommended until you reach your target weight, when you can then go down to 30 minutes a day.
When deciding on a program to get healthy and lose weight, begin by closely examining the foods that you are eating. Keep a diary of what, when and how much you are eating. Looking at nutrition labels will tell you what’s in your meal and allow you to track your caloric intake as well as the fats, sugars, vitamins and minerals that you are consuming. After a week, evaluate your list, identify the problem areas and make adjustments accordingly.
A healthy eating program should be high in fruits, vegetables and whole grains and low in saturated fats, sugar and salt. Determine what your daily caloric intake should be and don’t exceed it. If you are worried about feeling hungry, prepare fruity snacks to nibble on throughout the day. They are high in fiber, naturally sweet and will keep you feeling full.
Individuals who have major health concerns, such as cardiovascular disease, high cholesterol, diabetes or osteoporosis should work with a nutritionist to develop a healthy eating plan. If you are otherwise healthy but utterly confused by nutrition in general, a nutritionist might be just what you need to get on the proper track.
2. Syndrome X
Syndrome X is a metabolic disorder that affects one out of ever four Americans and can lead to cardiovascular disease and diabetes if left untreated. Syndrome X is chiefly characterized by insulin resistance. When food is consumed by a healthy individual, the body releases insulin to escort glucose into the cells where it can be burned efficiently. When insulin resistance is present, the cells fail to recognize the glucose and deny it entry. The glucose, without a destination, is left to build up in the bloodstream. The liver detects that the cells are not getting enough glucose and pumps more out to remedy the situation, further clogging the bloodstream with sugar. Eventually all of this glucose makes its way to the liver where it is converted to fat and stored throughout the body.
While weight gain due to insulin resistance is not necessarily caused by overeating, insulin resistance is caused by obesity, lack of exercise and diets high in carbohydrates. If you suspect that you might be insulin resistant, see your doctor for a simple test. Early detection could not only be the key to your weight loss, but also important in avoiding cardiovascular disease and diabetes in the future.
3. Stress
Are you plagued by stress on a daily basis? Even little stressors have the ability to add unwanted pounds to your body, thanks to a physiological response called “fight or flight”. Back in the days of our ancestral hunters and gathers, fight or flight was necessary for survival. When facing down an angry bear, the body would increase its production of the hormones adrenaline and cortisol to provide the hunter extra energy to battle his prey. After the immediate danger was over, the body would stop producing adrenaline but would continue to pump out cortisol. The cortisol served to stimulate insulin release and maintain the blood sugar levels resulting in an intense hunger. All of this was necessary for our ancient ancestor’s survival, however today we rarely have the need for such drastic responses.
While the type of stressors that we face in our everyday lives hardly compare to facing down a grizzly bear, our body’s response is exactly the same. Every time your workload becomes too much to handle or your children drive you off of the deep end, your body responds as if it was in mortal peril. Experiencing stressful events on a daily basis means that your adrenal glands could be pumping out the calming hormone cortisol on a regular basis.
After a stressful event subsides, the first thing that many of us do is reach for comfort food. This makes sense since the cortisol pumping through your body is effectively telling you to eat. The problem is, going back to its ancient roots, the fight or flight response was intended for physical threats in which massive amounts of energy were expended in order to survive. That intense hunger was supposed to trigger the hunter to replenish his body after the fight was over. Today’s stressors however, rarely involve physical activity. This means that the food you consume in r
I am 5"0 and weight 108 pounds. why cant i lose more weight?, i used to be 116. i lost 8 pounds. but this was a few months ago. and for some reason ive managed to maintain my 108 but whatever i do i just cant lose more weight..why? i have an OK body but i hate my thighs they are too big, how can i lose 4-5 more pounds and tone my thighs and stomach too...? please HELP!
You need to exercise to tone your thighs. Cycling will help.
why cant i lose weight i lowered my calories alot!?, ok im 18 im 5'11 and 170 lbs i have a little chub on my stomach thats it and i just want it to go away.. daily i have been eatng about 900 calories and 150 carbs with 45 grams of protein and 19 grams of fat. why cant i lose this? i wanna drop to like 155 lbs.
You need to eat more than 900 calories per day! Your body will go into starvation mode, and will sop up every bit of fat it can when you eat.
Belly fat is the hardest to lose, and usually is the last bit of fat to go. You need to eat healthy foods, stay away from refined sugars, and exercise. Exercise is the key to losing weight healthily, not just cutting back on food!

Why cant I lose weight? I exercise twice a day.?, I am in the Army I do PT in the morning. We usually run at least 3 times a week and do muscle endurance the other days. I go to the gym and lift every muscle group known to man. Everything is tone except for my stomach. I watch what I eat but still cant lose the fat on my stomach. What am I doing wrong. I have been doing this for over a year now. Dont get me wrong I have lost weight but I cant lose the rest.
The last little bit is always the hardest to lose.
I would blame your diet. You can exercise a ton and not lose anything if you are putting it right back on. Change your diet and keep exercising the way you are, and you'll see a change.
Why cant i lose weight and stick to healthyt eating habits and regular exercises's ????, so ive been over weight since i was about 18 and i can remember talking about how i was going to lose weight then i think i was like 195lbs im now and every year in between now im 24years old now 5"5 and i weigh 206lbs and still tring to lose weight its not that i cant lose weight i just have had such a HARD time sticking to diets or as others would say a new life style whatever you want to call it i always break down and eat something bad and then i eat something else bad right after that then i figure well i screwed up so what the hell im gonna eat something else and its just been a horrible cycle all these years exercising really isent my problem when i put my mind to it i like how i feel afterwards it those cravings that have gotten me 4 years i have a daughter now and would love to be able to lose at the very least 35lbs by summer 3months i guess and i want to take her to the pool shes loves it and im afraid im gonna take good times away from here cause im insucure. what can i do?
To put it bluntly: because you're lazy, unmotivated and don't care THAT much about losing the weight.
Sorry to be so blunt but I'm just answering the question at the beginning.
Losing weight is really easy, most people just don't know how to eat healthy anymore. You will lose a huge amount of weight by lowering your carb intake dramatically, all unnatural carbs (cold cereals, pastries, cookies, breads, etc.) Eat a diet of mainly meat, full fat dairy products, and cooked vegetables. 3-4 tbsp of virgin coconut oil a day will speed your metabolism dramatically. HIIT (high intensity interval training) exercise will burn fat as quickly as possible. Sprint for 30 seconds then run for 30 seconds and repeat that 7 times, only do that 2-3 times a week. You won't be able to sprint that many times at first so just run/walk 7 cycles.
Completely avoid ALL vegetable oils and polyunsaturated oils and hydrogenated fats. Eat as much saturated fat as you want though. Use real butter and never EVER use margarine. Don't listen to anyone who says saturated fat is unhealthy, that's based on BS "research" done over 50 years ago to help sell toxic vegetable oils.
