Claritin just doesn't work when does allergy season end?, I have never experienced such a bad allergy season as this year. It has been terrible on me. I am popping Claritin every 20-24 hours and they do nothing for me. I am sneezing, congested, eczema is flaring up, and my asthma is suffering to boot. I can't handle feeling like this for another minute and because I am pregnant no one would perscribe me anything but Claritin. I swear it is just a placebo because it doesn't work at all to take this away. I am using saline nose spray, eye drops, hydrocortisone, flovent, claritin, and albuterol. I am suffering so badly... Anyone else this year and when does allergy season end? I am 5+ to trees and grasses of all kinds.

Since you are PREGNANT, please, go see your pharmacist. They will be able to help you find something over the counter that is allowed while pregnant.

MY recommendations of what to ask for---what has worked for me with my allergies and asthma---

1. NASAL CROM---(cromolyn sodium)....it works on the MAST CELLS to STOP the histamine BEFORE it is even released.
I know CVS has it in a generic, but it is not sold even in BRAND name everywhere....but you may be albe to get it online if you have to. you can ask if you can use it in pregnancy.

2. BENEDRYL. if it is that bad, ask about that....you may not be able to use it, but, perhaps at nighttime?

3. ALLEGRA. would they consider that? it is a prescription....but a pharmacist could look that up for you......

4. ZYRTEC. not a prescription anymore, but still pricy. ask again about it first....as it was a script up until last year.

I had no relief EVER from claritan or it's family of meds (clarinex)...they did nothing with my bad allergies.

Allegra I was allergic to.

Benedryl worked the best on mine.

And now I just use benedryl and nasalcrom--the nasalcrom even helped get my asthma undercontrol--as stuff I was inhaling was setting off my asthma.

Again, ASK before using any of these, as you are pregnant...and it can all affect your pregnancy.....

ps--one last thing--you ask---WHEN does allergy season end? depending on WHAT you are allergic to.....allergy season is "all year"....there are always allergens, it just depends on if it is something YOU are allergic to or not. (such as people allergic to DOGS, MOLD, CATS, ect.)

when does the allergy season usually end? i have been miserable for about 3 weeks now!?, it seems that it gets worse every year... is it just that i forget how bad it is every year, or is there more pollen than usual?

It depends on what kind of allergies you suffer from. For pollen the season is spring and summer, spring being the worst as everything blooms at once.

If you suffer from dust & mold allergies fall can be particularly bad due to leaf molds. Winter can be bad if you are allergic to dust and are breathing alot of dusty air from being inside alot.

For pollen, it should lessen up a little in May as the early bloomers fade, but in June you may experience another attack as the summer flowers have a large bloom.

Jason: It really depends on what types of pollen to which you are allergic. Usually the first to offend are the trees, then they are followed by grasses. You can go to Pollen.Com and get the pollen forecast for your ZIP code. There is not much you can do but stay inside, keep doors and windows shut, and take a loratadine if the symptoms are bad.
This too will pass....it does every year.

It really depends on what you're allergic to. Seasonal allergies are usually spring/summer, but could vary if you are allergic to fall flowering plants.

How long does allergy season last in Ohio?, I have been a long time allergy sufferer. I just moved to NE Ohio from Florida. While I was living in FL, my spring allergy season would go from March to end of April. But up here, I just started getting symptoms in April. Now it is May and I am still suffering (even with Rx drugs). Do any of you know when I should expect relief?

It's really hard to know, because it all depends on what you are allergic to and what is causing your symptoms. Not knowing what is making you ill makes it really hard to says, especially since the plants are so different from Florida to Ohio!

Allergy season ends when the weather has a good deep freeze. As for why it is worse this year than last, I don't know where you live so I couldn't tell you. Its not bad at all where I live.
