How much weight do you need to lose for a doctor to prescribe Phentermine or adipex??, I know that diet and exercise is best, so I don't want to hear that, I know. I would like this to give my weight lose a jump start. I've lost 25 lbs. on my own and can't seem to get past that I need to lose about 30 to 40 more pounds. Please answer, I need an answer soon. Some doctors will use a BMI standard. Others require 60+ pounds overweight. Your doctor will have his/her own guideline.

If you decide to go with pills, have a backup plan because you can't take them forever. If you return to your old food choices, you'll return to your old weight.

with any program or regimen -- weight loss varies. it is primarily based upon your level of commitment & your desire to lose weight.

please don't get caught up in how fast you will begin to see the pounds melt off. because if you lose the weight too fast, it is very likely to return just as quickly. focus on losing your weight at a healthy reasonable pace.

i know its exciting and it can be very tempting. but sometimes we set ourselves up to fail, because we set the bar so high. and if we fall a little bit short of our goals, it can be a MAJOR set back..

I did nothing for 3months and I lost 60lbs so I imagine if I would have exercised I would have lost more weight

When I was taking phen (adipex) it did weird things to me sometimes. Also had pain, vison problems. It really worked and had good results, but I decided that the side effects and future health problems are not worth it.
Started to take acomplia after I quit phen. It also works fine and I am losing a pound or few every week.
It is very popular in UK, Germany and many other countries worldwide. Not so much in the us yet.

Hi I dont know if I have the answer your looking for but here it is! I am overweight and I went to the doc and told him I have tried everything to lose weight and he gave me adipex. I have been on them for four days now and I love them. I dont have cravings for food (but I do still eat) and now I have the energy (not tremors) to run after two kids and do a 45 min workout among everything else to do in a day. It sounds crazy but I already feel skinnier, lighter, prettier, taller.....Its just great!!! As for side effects I had some mild insomnia the first two nights but after that I now sleep well at night. Hope this helps good luck!!!!!

I lost about 15 pounds But I gained it back. Its not a permanant solution. I know you hate hearing that I hate it when people tell me all that will work is exercise and eating right even though I know its true. Every one that I know that has taken adipex has gained it right back as soon as they quit taking them and eventually you will have to take 2 a day and then after that your Dr. probably won't prescribe you more than 2 a day. Yes I lost a little over 40lbs in 3 months. It really curbs your appetite and makes you drink lots of water. Just make sure that the doctor you go to checks your status on every visit (i.e blood pressure, asks about symptoms if any) and exercise for at least 30 mins a day. The weight will FALL off.

Change your eating habits - try Weight Watchers or another program that will teach you how to maintain a healthy weight WITHOUT drugs!
